Escape Rooms

These are becoming increasingly popular. If you are competitive and love puzzles; this one is one for you. Escape Rooms involves being locked in a room with a small team of people, solving problems and finding the key to get your team out. Generally, the game lasts about 60 minutes and there is usually a story behind the game; this helps everybody to get into the game and feel the urgency of the case you are solving. It really is a different kind of afternoon to spend with friends. The Great Escape Waterford is located on O’Connell Street, in the centre of Waterford. It has a number of rooms to choose from, such as Cluedo, Prison Break, Madness, A Brilliant Mind & Game of Thrones. The price varies depending on the number of people that are playing the game. It is a game to get everyone working together for a common goal and ensures some mental challenges and hopefully a few laughs along the way.

Dunmore Adventure

Dunmore East is approximately 20-25 minutes outside of Waterford City and is home to Dunmore Adventure. If your group are more into sports than puzzles and would like a girl’s day with a difference; this could be the activity that beats them all. At Dunmore Adventure there are a number of water sports and other fun activities such as Wibit Wipeout, Powerfan Freefall, Kayaking, Archery, Sailing & Caving for adults. Whether the Sun is Shining or not; Dunmore Adventure promises an afternoon of fun for all.

Waterford Greenway

The Waterford Greenway is Waterford’s newest tourist attraction with 46km of panoramic scenery stretching from Waterford to Dungarvan. Cycling the greenway is another fantastic option for a girl’s day out. If the sun is out, it really cannot be beaten. There are lots of things to see along the way, with little places to stop and take a breather; such as Kiersey’s Bar and Tearooms in Kilmacthomas. Bikes can be rented from local companies which are based in Waterford and in Dungarvan. These companies run shuttle buses during the summer months so that if the journey back is too much, you can just hop on board.

Kilcohan Greyhound Stadium

If your gang of girls would enjoy something a little less strenuous, then maybe a night at the dogs is more your cup of tea. The local greyhound stadium in Waterford is Kilcohan Greyhound Stadium where there are races every Friday and Saturday night. The restaurant at Kilcohan Greyhound Stadium, located on the outskirts of the city, can cater for large or small groups and is a great night out.

Bay Spa

Always a favourite for a girl’s day out is a spa day. A hidden gem called Bay Spa right on the Promenade in Tramore, less than a 20-minute drive from Waterford City Centre, provides a relaxing atmosphere with a panoramic view of Tramore Bay. The spa is a favourite of locals and visitors alike with a highly specialised team of beauty and holistic therapists; you can be sure that you and your girl group will gain a great sense of peace and relaxation here. This spa is located right on the coast and is definitely an experience worth looking into.
